splicing
and
knotting
may
reduce
the
breaking
load
by
more
than
50
percent.
High-tech
raw
materials
such
as
Dyneema,
Vectran
or
PBO
are
sensitive
as
regards
kinking
and
require
careful
treatment
as
well
as
regular
maintenance.
High-tech
products
should,
therefore,
not
be
fastened
with
knots
but
should
only
be
used
spliced.
In
addition,
a
few
basic
rules
should
be
considered:
Splicing
should
be
carried
out
carefully
without
violence
in
order
to
avoid
damaging
the
fibres
of
the
ropes.
It
is
important
to
point
out
that
correct
splicing
requires
some
practical
exercise.
Moreover
please
consider
that
not
every
rope
can
be
spliced
especially
when
the
cover
of
the
rope
is
closely
plaited.
